Summary of Role

 

We are recruiting on behalf of Creative Support for a Floating Support Service Manager will be responsible for the management and oversight of a comprehensive support service for up to 250 individuals in Doncaster. This pivotal role involves ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality support to individuals living independently in the community, as well as those in a supported living arrangement.

 

The Manager will oversee the a supported living scheme, which accommodates up to 8 adults across two houses. Key responsibilities include void management, collaboration with Sanctuary Housing, staff deployment, and ensuring timely move-ins and move-outs.

 

The role requires a dynamic and proactive leader who can manage diverse responsibilities while maintaining high standards of service delivery and achieving contractual outcomes. The role will encompass a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including the management of complaints and HR processes.

 

This well-established role is critical in driving positive outcomes for adults experiencing mental ill health, particularly in ensuring they find or sustain suitable accommodation. Additionally, you will oversee the Mental Health Pathways program, working closely with our NHS colleagues to support timely discharges from local NHS wards and prevent delays.


Key Requirements & Duties:


  • Service Management - Oversee the Floating Support Service for up to 250 clients, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of support services.
  • Data Management and Reporting - Produce and submit accurate monthly data sets to the Local Authority, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Quality Assurance - Ensure the service meets all contractual outcomes and maintains high standards of service delivery.
  • Caseload Management - Manage and oversee the case load, ensuring timely and effective assessments of referrals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of agencies, including housing providers, local authorities, and other support services. Act as a key point of contact for all stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Staff Management and Deployment - Deploy staff effectively to meet the needs of the service and ensure optimal service delivery. Provide leadership, support, and supervision to the team, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
  • Social Value Targets - Take responsibility for achieving social value targets as outlined in the service contract.
  • Operational Oversight - Oversee day-to-day operations of the Floating Support Service and Morley Road supported living. Ensure all services operate within budget and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.


Other Responsibilities

  • Manage complaints and human resources processes within the service.
  • Ensure positive outcomes for adults with mental ill health by facilitating access to and maintenance of suitable accommodation.
  • Oversee the Mental Health Pathways role, collaborating with NHS partners to avoid delayed discharges from local NHS wards.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with Mental Health needs
  • Relevant Qualification (RMN, DipSW, NVQQ) or degree
  • To have a clean driving licence and access to a car
  • Experience of meeting Housing Related Support requirements including completing contract monitoring workbooks and preparing for reviews
  • Experience of developing and co-ordinating volunteering roles, preparation for volunteering and community links
  • Experience in designing and delivering workshops, peer networks and group sessions
  • Ability to articulate and communicate a progressive vision for the delivery of generic housing related support services
  • Ability to engage with service users, to develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to listen sensitively to others
  • Ability to demonstrate significant understanding of the needs of people with a range of support needs including mental health issues, learning disability, drug/ alcohol issues, homelessness, offending history etc. and to be familiar with current views of good practice
  • Good written communication skills / reporting writing
  • A high level of customer focus and the ability to lead and manage a team to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and resourcefulness
  • Ability to liaise in a professional manner with other agencies and to work in a positive way with the families and friends of service users
  • Understanding of the person centred aims and principles of Creative Support and ability to put these into practice
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for difference and diversity
  • A non-judgmental, accepting approach to working with people who lead chaotic lifestyles and the ability to cope in a mature way with conflict, distress and challenging behaviours which may include service users who self-harm, experience suicidal ideation or make poor risk choices
  • Ability to work in a calm, patient and tolerant manner at a pace appropriate to the needs of the individual
  • Ability to enable people to enjoy developmental opportunities without being exposed to unacceptable risks
  • Ability to support and supervise junior staff and provide on the job coaching
  • Knowledge of helpful approaches, strategies and interventions in working with people with mental health needs and / or learning disability/ drug & alcohol issues/ offending behaviours etc.
  • The ability to serve as a professional role model to colleagues
  • Demonstrable skills in working effectively with people who have a range of needs including mental health needs, offending history, drug/ alcohol issues etc.
  • Ability to carry out a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s care and support needs, including risk assessment. Ability to devise effective individual care plans and risk management plans
  • Good knowledge of the principles of re-ablement and good practice tools and the ability to motivate a team to ensure the re-enablement  model of support is embedded into the working culture of the service
  • Knowledge of contract monitoring, management and performance issues
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice guidance related to the role
  • Full understanding of the core areas of practice, including safeguarding, the re-ablement model of support  and principles of dignity
  • To demonstrate empathy and unconditional positive regard towards people with a range of needs including mental health needs, drug/ alcohol issues, offending history etc.
  • Experience of staff supervision
  • Experience of liaising and joint working with other agencies and professionals
  • Experience of supporting people with complex needs from one or more of the following key areas: mental health needs, drug/ alcohol issues, offenders etc
  • Experience of consulting with service users and responding to their views in service development and delivery
  • Experience of evaluating, monitoring and reviewing services
  • Life experience and confidence in relating to people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Willingness to work flexible hours according to needs of agency and service users
  • Willingness to attend training courses or events and to deliver training to support staff        
  • Willing to accept feedback and guidance and to be accountable to colleagues and managers   


Hours of Work                             

Full time, hours are 37.5 per week. To be worked flexibly on a rota which will include evenings, weekends and public holidays according to the needs of the service.
