Clinical Healthcare Assistant, Gosport

Are you passionate about supporting the health and well-being of recruits? HMS Sultan is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the health assessments of incoming recruits and play an essential part in ensuring their readiness for military service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist recruits with filling out health and hearing questionnaires.
• Collect urine samples and direct recruits to the appropriate facilities.
• Complete recruitment paperwork using data from the MOD system.
• Take recruits for medical tests such as weight, height, waist circumference, blood pressure, peak flow, colour perception, and urinalysis.
• Conduct audiogram testing, depending on booth availability.
• Record medical data on DMICP and ensure all information is accurately documented.
• Provide emotional support to recruits who are informed of medical unfitness or require a chaperone.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the medical centre, including stocking rooms and cleaning kitchen areas.
• Perform additional administrative duties as needed to support medical staff and ensure smooth operations.
• Assist with retesting recruits when necessary, following doctor instructions.

Essential Skills & Qualities:

• Strong communication skills to interact with recruits in a calm and professional manner.
• Ability to manage sensitive situations, including providing emotional support when needed.
• Basic understanding of medical terms and procedures (full training provided).
• Ability to stay organized and manage a busy workload in a dynamic environment.
• A willingness to learn about the Navy's roles and requirements to better support recruits.

Desirable Knowledge:

• Basic knowledge of alcohol units and how to guide recruits on responsible consumption.
• Understanding of military roles and their specific entry requirements.
• Experience in a similar healthcare or administrative role.
