Job Description

We are hiring for a Support Coordinator. 37.5 hours per week (flexible: to be worked according to a rota and to include evenings, weekends, public holidays and sleep-in shifts according to the needs of the service).


We are looking for an experienced practitioner with management experience to provide care and support to people with learning disabilities. The Role:

  • You will provide respectful personal care and practical care and support to 10 people with physical disabilities and complex health needs, building the independence of service users, and ensuring that they are enabled to live meaningful and valued lifestyles. You will be working across 2 services
  • You will assist your line manager in the coordination and operational management of the service, ensuring that it meets all requirements, standards and expectations of service users, the commissioners, Creative Support, and other stakeholders.
  • You will support and supervise staff including deploying the team according to service user needs and preferences
  • You will liaise effectively with service users, families, the multidisciplinary team, and involved professionals to ensure a consistent and coordinated service and maximise outcomes for service users.
  • You will deputise for the Registered Manager in all aspects of service delivery.



This is an active role requiring you to be on your feet most of the day, with significant walking between bungalows in all weather conditions. A key focus of the role is ensuring the safe management of medication, which is a critical responsibility. Overnight, there are always two staff members on sleep-in shifts, so no staff member is required to work alone in the hub at night.


Experience Required:

  • Experience in Learning Disability Services: Prior work in a similar setting, with a deep understanding of learning disabilities and the support needs of individuals.
  • Coordination Skills: Experience in coordinating care and support for individuals with learning disabilities, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Knowledge of Local Resources: Familiarity with services, resources, and community support available in Blackpool.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and other professionals.
  • Understanding of Legal and Regulatory Frameworks: Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to learning disabilities and support services.
  • Empathy and Patience: A compassionate approach when working with individuals with learning disabilities.
