About the role:
We’re looking for compassionate, reliable Children’s Residential Support Workers to support children and young people in residential homes and supported living services. You’ll help with daily routines, school/college engagement, activities, life skills and positive behaviour support—always putting safeguarding and dignity first.
Day to day, you’ll champion education and health appointments, plan meaningful activities, promote independence and life skills, and maintain family/peer contact where appropriate. You’ll record clearly, work closely with social workers, schools, and CAMHS, and contribute to reviews so every decision keeps the child’s best interests at the centre. Some shifts will be in supported/semi-independent living, helping older young people transition toward adulthood with confidence.
What you’ll do:
- Build safe, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model
- Support with personal care (where required), mealtimes, bedtime routines and school prep
- Plan and take part in age-appropriate activities and community access
- Use de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies in line with care plans
- Keep clear, accurate records (daily notes, incidents, safeguarding)
- Work flexibly across early/late shifts, long days, sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays
