About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our supported living service for adults with learning disabilities and additional mental health needs. This is a Temporary-to-Permanent opportunity with clear progression and development pathways.
You will lead by example, provide high-quality person-centred support, and guide junior staff to ensure each individual receives consistent, empowering and holistic care.
Your work will help service users:
- Build confidence, self-esteem and independence

- Access meaningful activities, community opportunities, work and education
- Maintain safety, dignity and choice in their daily lives
Key Responsibilities
Person-Centred Support
- Build warm, trusting relationships that encourage communication, expression and independence.
- Promote happiness, wellbeing and inclusion through tailored, person-centred care.
- Provide emotional reassurance to people who may be anxious, distressed or disorientated.
- Support with personal care, daily living skills, self-organisation and community access.
- Encourage participation in leisure, social, work and educational activities.
- Assist individuals with physical disabilities, sensory needs and mobility support.
Health, Behaviour & Safety
- Apply positive behaviour approaches for people who communicate needs through challenging behaviour.
- Support health appointments, nutrition, healthy routines, medication administration and wellbeing checks.
- Monitor mental and physical health and report concerns promptly.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safeguarding and health & safety protocols.
Senior-Level Duties
- Supervise, coach and support junior staff, relief workers, students and volunteers.
- Coordinate staff time, delegate tasks and ensure all planned activities and outcomes are met.
- Assist with rota planning and respond resourcefully to staffing gaps or changes.
- Maintain accurate records, financial documentation and administrative duties.
- Contribute to reviews, support planning meetings and multi-agency coordination.
- Deputise for team leaders and managers when required.
