About the Role

We are seeking warm, reliable, and proactive Recovery Support Workers to join our Mental Health Services in Telford on a Temporary-to-Permanent basis.

You will provide person-centred emotional and practical support to adults with mental health needs, working with each individual to promote independence, confidence, recovery and overall wellbeing.


This is a rewarding role where you will help people stabilise their mental health, develop daily living skills, maintain safe homes, and move forward towards greater independence.


Key Responsibilities

Person-Centred Support

  • Build warm, trusting relationships to encourage open communication, expression of needs and personal choice.
  • Promote dignity, privacy, independence and positive mental health.
  • Support service users to develop coping skills, life skills and self-organisation.
  • Encourage involvement in social, leisure, educational and work activities.

Daily Living & Practical Assistance

  • Support with budgeting, managing finances and maximising income.
  • Assist with tenancy responsibilities, maintaining hygiene, safety and comfort in the home.
  • Support people with cultural, spiritual and identity needs.
  • Help individuals to access appropriate move-on accommodation.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

  • Monitor wellbeing and report any changes promptly.
  • Support individuals to access healthcare, maintain routines and manage medication programmes.
  • Work within risk management guidelines to reduce risks to self and others.
  • Provide reassurance and positive role modelling.

Professional Standards

  • Maintain accurate notes, records, reports and financial documentation.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and safeguarding situations.
  • Work positively with external agencies, families and professionals.
  • Carry out domestic tasks when required (cleaning, laundry, general upkeep).
  • Work flexibly, including moving to different services at short notice to support crisis needs.


About You

Essential Skills & Qualities

  • Warm, engaging and able to build positive relationships.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of mental health support needs.
  • Ability to provide emotional and practical support promoting dignity and recovery.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Calm and effective in crisis or emergency situations.

  • Willing to work flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends.

Desirable

  • Experience in accommodation-based support settings.
  • Car driver with access to a vehicle and business insurance willingness.
  • NVQ Level 2 or higher in Health & Social Care.
  • Basic understanding of the benefits system.
