Young Person Support Worker , Newcastle, Redcar, Middlesbrough, Blyth and surrounding areas in the North East
Newcastle Redcar Middlesbrough Blyth and surrounding areas in the North East, SR7Temporary£14.50 - £16.00 per hour
Job Description
About the Role
We are recruiting Children's Support Workers to join a specialist team supporting young people with complex behavioural needs across the North East of England, covering services from Newcastle to Middlesbrough.
These are not typical support roles. Our young people require highly consistent, committed professionals who can build genuine relationships and provide stability. Due to the nature of the care, all placements operate at a minimum 2:1 ratio — you will always be part of a team on shift.
This role is ONLY suitable if you are a driver — you will use a company pool car to transport young people as part of day-to-day support.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting young people with complex behavioural and emotional needs in a safe, structured environment
Providing consistent, relationship-led care — continuity matters enormously to the young people we support
Transporting young people using a company pool car to appointments, activities, and community outings
Working as part of a close-knit 2:1 support team on every shift
Implementing personalised care plans and positive behaviour support strategies
Recording detailed, accurate daily logs and incident reports
What We're Looking For
Full UK driving licence — essential
Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs, challenging behaviour, autism, or SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
PACB (Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour) training is a strong advantage — full training provided if not held
Calm, patient, and resilient — you'll face challenging moments and handle them with professionalism
Ability to commit to regular, recurring shifts — our young people depend on familiar faces
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to travel across the North East region (Newcastle to Middlesbrough corridor)
Training and Induction
All new starters will receive full paid training at our client's office in Peterlee, beginning 21st April 2026:
Initial taster day
Full 3-day specialist training programme (paid)
No prior PACB qualification required — we will train the right person.
What We Offer
Competitive hourly pay
Paid training from day one
Company pool car provided for transporting young people
Ongoing support from a dedicated placement team
Work with a values-driven organisation focused on getting it right for every young person
Shift Commitment
We need workers who can commit to regular, recurring shifts. Ad hoc cover only is not suitable for these placements. The young people in our care thrive on routine and familiar staff — if you are looking for consistent, meaningful work rather than one-off shifts, this is the role for you.
Pay Rates:
Monday to Friday: £14.50 per hour
Saturday and Sunday: £16.00 per hour
