Senior Support Worker (Temp to Perm) – Learning Disabilities & Autism, Blackpool

Job Description

Cucumber Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Support Worker on behalf of a well-established Learning Disabilities Supported Living Service in Blackpool.


This is an excellent Temp-to-Perm opportunity for an experienced Support Worker looking to progress into a senior role, or for an existing Senior Support Worker seeking a new challenge within a supportive and rewarding environment.


You will support adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism and complex support needs, helping them to live independently, develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes within their local community.


This role offers the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities including shift leadership, staff support, rota coordination and mentoring junior team members whilst continuing to provide hands-on person-centred support.


The Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you will provide high-quality support to individuals living in their own homes whilst promoting independence, dignity, choice and inclusion.

You will work closely with Support Workers, Team Leaders and external professionals to ensure individuals receive safe, effective and person-centred support that reflects their needs, goals and aspirations.


Key Responsibilities

• Providing person-centred support to adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism

• Supporting individuals with daily living skills, personal care and community activities

• Promoting independence, wellbeing and social inclusion

• Supporting individuals with behaviours that may challenge

• Implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies and person-centred plans

• Supporting with medication administration and recording

• Completing daily records, reports and support documentation

• Supporting individuals with physical health needs and appointments

• Acting as Shift Leader and coordinating staff when required

• Providing guidance, mentoring and support to junior staff

• Supporting rota planning and service delivery

• Working collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals and external agencies

• Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety and compliance standards are maintained


About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Experience supporting adults with Learning Disabilities

• Experience supporting individuals with Autism and complex needs

• Previous experience as a Support Worker, Senior Support Worker or Care Team Leader

• Strong understanding of person-centred care and Positive Behaviour Support

• Experience supporting individuals who may display behaviours that challenge

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Experience completing support records and documentation

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• A calm, patient and professional approach

• Ability to lead shifts and support colleagues

• Commitment to delivering high-quality care and support


Desirable Experience

• Autism support experience

• Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) knowledge

• Makaton, PECS or alternative communication methods

• Health & Social Care Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma

• Experience supervising or mentoring staff

• Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
