Job Description

Cucumber Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Support Worker on behalf of a well-established Learning Disabilities Supported Living Service in Newbury.


This is an excellent Temp-to-Perm opportunity for an experienced Support Worker, Senior Support Worker or Care Team Leader looking to progress their career within Learning Disabilities and Supported Living services.


The successful candidate will support adults with Learning Disabilities to live independently, develop life skills, access their local community and achieve positive outcomes through person-centred support.


This role combines hands-on support with leadership responsibilities, including supervising staff, coordinating shifts, supporting rota management and ensuring high standards of care delivery.


The Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring individuals receive high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence, choice, dignity and inclusion.


You will support service users to achieve their goals whilst helping to lead and develop a team of Support Workers, ensuring consistent, safe and effective support is delivered at all times.


Key Responsibilities

• Supporting adults with Learning Disabilities within Supported Living services

• Promoting independence, choice and person-centred support

• Supporting individuals with personal care, daily living skills and community access

• Supporting people who may display behaviours that challenge

• Implementing Positive Behaviour Support approaches

• Administering and recording medication

• Acting as Shift Coordinator when required

• Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior staff

• Supporting rota planning and service delivery

• Completing support plans, risk assessments and reviews

• Maintaining accurate records and documentation

• Working collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals and partner agencies

• Promoting safeguarding, health and safety and positive risk management

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Experience supporting adults with Learning Disabilities

• Previous Senior Support Worker, Support Worker or Team Leader experience

• Experience supervising or mentoring staff

• Strong understanding of person-centred care

• Experience supporting individuals with behaviours that challenge

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Experience developing support plans and risk assessments

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Commitment to delivering high-quality support and positive outcomes


Desirable Experience

• Autism support experience

• Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) knowledge

• Makaton, PECS or alternative communication methods

• NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent

• Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
