Job Title: Domiciliary Care Worker / Home Care Assistant
Reports To: Care Coordinator / Registered Manager
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals in their own homes, enabling them to maintain independence, dignity, choice, and quality of life. The role involves supporting service users with personal care, daily living activities, medication, and social engagement in accordance with their individual care plans.
Personal Care
- Assist service users with personal hygiene, washing, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support with toileting and continence care.
- Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate equipment where required.
- Promote independence and encourage service users to do as much as possible for themselves.
Daily Living Support
- Assist with meal preparation and nutrition.
- Support with shopping and household tasks.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
- Accompany service users to appointments and community activities when required.
Medication Support
- Assist or administer medication in accordance with company policies and training.
- Maintain accurate medication records.
- Report any concerns regarding medication or health changes.
Emotional and Social Support
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Encourage social interaction and participation in community activities.
- Respect service users' choices, preferences, culture, and beliefs.
Record Keeping
- Complete care notes and documentation accurately and promptly.
- Report changes in health, wellbeing, or circumstances to the appropriate manager.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR and company policies.
Safeguarding and Health & Safety
- Safeguard vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, and harm.
- Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures.
- Work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Report accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly.
