Post: Housing Management Officer
Responsible to: Service Manager
Location: South West London with travel across London
Main Purpose of role: To provide a full housing
management function and targeted support to
women affected by domestic abuse
across Hestia’s domestic abuse accommodation
based support services in South West London
Reportees: None
Key responsibilities:
• To ensure the housing management functions of health and safety of the
property, maintenance and voids control, are kept according policy for under 50
units
• Management of service users rent/charges collection, arrears avoidance control,
debt management
• Under the direction of the Service Manager, liaise with partner Registered
Providers, ensuring adherence to Management Agreements
• Management of service users DWP, Revenue and Benefits
• Issuing of occupancy agreements to new service users
• Working with the finance team to ensure new service users have their rent
accounts established
• Supporting new service user to apply for welfare benefits, including housing
benefit and establish personal charge payments
• Leading on property induction for new service users, including use of
equipment
• Undertaking any necessary legal action, including leading on the pre action
protocol
• Providing weekly/monthly/quarterly performance reports to the Service
Manager
• Undertake daily/weekly/monthly building health and safety checks
• Ensure that all repairs are reported and actioned within the relevant timescales,
keeping service users and support staff aware of progress and maintain records.
• Working in partnership with support workers, Local Authorities and referrers
• Maintain the safety and security of the building, including leading on the
completion of property risk assessments
• To ensure that all the accommodation is kept to a high standard and rooms are
prepared and, available, including to new service users in an emergency
situation.
• Work with the support workers to develop a psychologically informed
environment
• Coordinate the cyclical works process
• Develop supportive and positive relationships with service users and
colleagues
• Work with the service to create move on pathways for service users
