Cucumber Recruitment supplies care staff to care homes and support services across England and Scotland. We fill over 50,000 shifts a year. We're also building a lot of our own technology, using AI to take repetitive admin out of the business so our people can focus on the work that matters.
The role
This is a hands-on junior developer role inside our compliance team. The heavy compliance checks (DBS, right to work) are already automated. Your job is to automate everything around them: chasing candidates for documents, DBS renewal reminders, uploading staff profiles to client vendor systems, and the dozens of small repeatable tasks that still eat up admin time.
You'll learn how the compliance process works, run parts of it day to day at first, and then build the tools that make it run by itself. You'll work closely with our technical lead and our AI agents, so you'll be using tools like Claude and Codex every day to ship real features quickly.
What you'll do
* Build and improve automations in Next.js and TypeScript for compliance and onboarding
* Automate document chasing, expiry reminders and vendor profile uploads
* Connect our systems to client portals and vendor platforms using APIs and browser automation
* Build simple dashboards and exception reports so nothing slips through
* Keep day-to-day compliance admin moving while you automate it
* Document what you build so the team can rely on it
