Summary of Job:

 

We are looking for a dynamic and caring leader in Camden, Barnet and Wandsworth to oversee up to 12 Supported Living Services. The post holder will be accountable for the development, operational management, staff management and quality assurance of these Support Services for people with learning disabilities and other needs.

 

The post-holder will be the CQC Registered Manager for multiple services across Camden, Barnet and Wandsworth, and will need to ensure all domiciliary standards and requirements are met and exceeded across these services. You must be an accomplished manager and have extensive experience and knowledge of working within the social care sector, including with people with a learning disability.

 

You will carry out the role demonstrating a person-centered approach, and possess experience of staff and project management. You will have the vision, networking and organisational abilities to deliver excellent outcomes for customers and to implement initiatives which connect service users to their local community and promote our reputation.


Taking a hands-on approach, the post holder will be accountable for the development, operational management, staff management and quality assurance of our 12 Support Services for people with a learning disability and other needs in Camden, Barnet and Wandsworth.


Visit the 12 services regularly and ensure that they are responsive to the needs and preferences of service users and their families and operate in line with care policies and behaviour management guidelines agreed by the multi-disciplinary teams.


Ensure service users receive an individualised person centred support which enables them to enjoy a fulfilling and valued life, to participate in the community and develop their abilities as fully as possible. Ensure that staff develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships with service users and that staff promote their self esteem, happiness and emotional health.


To help ensure that service users are enabled to become as independent as possible and to grow in confidence, competence and personal effectiveness. To achieve this through the provision of practical assistance, support, teaching, advice, role modelling, encouragement and positive feedback.

 QUALITIES REQUIRED:


  • Experience of staff supervision and performance management
  • Experience of liaising and joint working with other agencies
  • Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs
  • Experience of consulting with service users and responding to their views in service development and delivery
  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g, RNLD, RMN, CQSW, Dipsw, NVQ4) plus at least two years post-qualification learning disability experience            
  • Health and Social Care Diploma Level 5 (or willingness to work towards this within an agreed timescale)
  • Experience of being a CQC Registered Manager, with demonstrable experience improving a service or maintaining a high CQC rating 
  • Experience of evaluating, monitoring and reviewing services          
  • Experience of contract management and developing new services/initiatives in partnership with others or managing change
  • Experience of staff recruitment and selection and knowledge of equal opportunities
  • Ability to engage with service users, to develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to listen sensitively to others
  • Ability to demonstrate significant understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities and to be familiar with current views of good practice
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, self motivation and resourcefulness
  • Ability to liaise in a professional manner with other agencies and to work in a positive way with the families and friends of service users
  • Understanding of the person centred aims and principles of Creative Support and ability to put these into practice
  • A non-judgemental, accepting approach to working with people who may be challenging and the ability to cope in a mature way with conflict, distress and challenging behaviours
  • Ability to support and supervise junior staff and provide on the job coaching
  • Knowledge of helpful approaches, strategies and interventions in working with people with learning disabilities
  • Ability to carry out a comprehensive assessment of an individuals care and support needs, including risk assessment. Ability to devise effective individual care plans and risk management plans
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload of operational management, service development and corporate responsibilities
  • Willingness to work flexible hours according to needs of the organisation and service users
  • Willingness to travel nationally and attend training courses and events
  • Willing to accept feedback and guidance and to be accountable to colleagues and managers
  • Ability to work quickly to a high standard and set timescales
