Job Description

Cucumber Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an established and award-winning adult social care provider for an experienced Locality Manager to lead Supported Living and Community Support services across the York area.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social care manager who is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred services for adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health needs.


The role is being recruited on a temporary-to-permanent basis. The successful candidate will initially work through Cucumber Recruitment, with the opportunity to move into a permanent position with the client following a successful temporary period.


The Role

As Locality Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership, quality, compliance and performance of services across the locality.

Working closely with Service Managers and Support Workers, you will ensure the services provide safe, effective and person-centred support while meeting CQC requirements and relevant social care legislation.

You will also contribute to the wider senior management team, helping to shape service development, improve quality and support the continued growth of the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective leadership across Supported Living and Community Support services.
  • Lead and support Service Managers and frontline teams.
  • Ensure services deliver high-quality, person-centred support.
  • Maintain full compliance with CQC regulations and relevant legislation.
  • Promote choice, independence, dignity and positive outcomes for the people supported.
  • Monitor service quality through audits, reviews and performance reporting.
  • Support recruitment, induction, supervision and development of staff.
  • Manage performance, attendance, wellbeing and conduct concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure staffing levels and rotas meet the needs of the services.
  • Build strong relationships with the people supported, families, staff and professionals.
  • Work closely with Local Authority and NHS commissioners.
  • Support safeguarding investigations and ensure concerns are responded to appropriately.
  • Monitor budgets and ensure services operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement and development.
  • Promote the organisation’s services and maintain its positive reputation.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide management support when required.

About You

You will have:

  • Management experience within adult social care.
  • Experience of Supported Living, Community Support, Learning Disabilities, Autism or Mental Health services.
  • A strong working knowledge of CQC requirements and relevant social care legislation.
  • Experience leading and developing staff teams.
  • Strong safeguarding and risk management knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with families, commissioners and external professionals.
  • Good IT, organisational and reporting skills.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
  • Access to a vehicle for business use.
  • A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, or willingness to work towards this.
